In a way, Duck Muck launched the tidal wave of Australian wine in the United States.  It was the first wine I purchased to start my career in 1997.  Robert Parker raved about the wine in terms rarely seen before and gave it 99 points.  Winemaker and owner mad genius David Anderson only made two barrels and a few magnums.  I have two.  I drank 2002 Duck Muck at Thanksgiving and it was one of the better Australian wines I’ve ever had.  Of all the wines I’ve put away in my library cellar, none have aged as well as Wild Duck Creek.  At the time, many of David’s wines, characteristic of Victoria, were tight and closed.  They’ve aged into the most beautiful wines of Australia.  And I’ve never opened a magnum of Duck Muck.  I can only imagine the freshness and purity and sheer class and complexity.  Own a little a bit of history and a lot of amazing!
